January 2017 Meeting

YOU MISSED IT!  Our First Meeting of 2017, held Monday Night, January 9th, 2017
Our Guest Speaker was Roy Rabey, AD5KZ from Carrollton, Texas
“Official Observer Program & Interpreting the FCC Rules”

Roy Rabey, AD5KZOn the evening of January 9th, 24 intrepid hams with a thirst for both pizza and knowledge turned out to hear an EXCELLENT presentation by our guest speaker Roy Rabey, AD5KZ, from Carrollton, Texas. His presentation was about the “ARRL Official Observer Program & Interpreting the FCC Rules for Amateur Radio”.   Attendees came away stuffed with Larry’s delicious pizza and a greater knowledge and understanding of the ARRL OO Program.  Roy is an Official Observer Coordinator (OOC) and is a nationally recognized expert on this topic.  His presentation provided an overview of the ARRL administered FCC Amateur Auxiliary and the duties of an Official Observer (OO).  Until now, this has been a topic that only a few of us have fully understood.

It truly was far more than we expected.  Hams traveled from as far away as Mena and Searcy to hear Roy’s presentation.  We have worked for many years to try and obtain a guest speaker on this topic–but good things come to those who wait.  Roy Rabey, AD5KZ, you are much appreciated for your knowledge and expertise on this subject and moreover, your willingness to teach us about the ARRL OO Program.  He is the best of the best and tries to share his vast knowledge of the subject.

Raffle prizes included a new Baofeng GT-3WP waterproof dual-band handheld radio (won by J Ferguson, N5LKE, and several other nice prizes:  Craftsman soldering gun, Craftsman Multi-meter and Craftsman Drill/Driver set.  It was a spectacular evening!  If you missed it, you may have missed one of the best guest speakers in the history of The CAUHF Group.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW for the next meeting, Monday night, April 3rd.  Details about the next meeting will be posted here as soon as they become available!
