RECORD ATTENDANCE: Monday Night, October 3rd, 2016
44 Members and Guests
GUEST SPEAKER: Todd Yakoubian, Meteorologist from KATV Channel 7
We had a memorable meeting on Monday night, October 3rd. We packed 44 members and guests into the Larry’s Pizza banquet room on Cantrell. We had an interesting and dynamic guest speaker and we elected new officers for 2017. Finally, we held a raffle drawing for a Tytera MD-380 hand held DMR radio, won by Mike Clay, AC5XV.
We were truly honored to have KATV Meteorologist, Todd Yakoubian, accept our invitation to speak to the CAUHF Group. He is highly sought after as a guest speaker at many schools, civic groups and first response agencies across Arkansas. Who knew? HE IS A HAM! He is W1BSE, a call that once belonged to his Dad, now a Silent Key.
We wanted Todd to get to know us and we wanted to get to know him even better! He knows that many of us in the CAUHF Group and the AR Links System have been trained as Severe Weather Storm Spotters by the National Weather Service. We feel that one of Todd’s greatest assets is that he a native Arkansan and he has experienced the same memorable storms as the rest of us. He gave us an excellent presentation on the Mayflower/Vilonia Tornado that occurred in Arkansas on the night of April 27, 2014. Following that, he gave us a bit of inside information on what we MIGHT expect for the winter of 2016-2016. We very much appreciate Todd’s presentation and interest in our group.
Following the program, we held an election for new officers for the CAUHF Group. The results are:
President: Steven Hicks, W5NLR
Vice President: Sam Baldwin, N5SRB
Secretary-Treasurer: Margie Wofford, KG5EPM (re-elected for a 2nd term)
