Sorry, no fun was had at the October 6th, 2014 meeting held at Larry’s Pizza, on Highway 10 in Little Rock.
UNLESS–you consider the all-you-can-eat pizza buffet at Larry’s, plus the drawing for a new, Baofeng UV-82 dual band radio, a 6-piece set of Craftsman Evolv pliers, a 10-piece SAE Craftsman socket and ratchet set and an Empire extruded aluminum level, made in USA. So, you can see that we did not have any fun at the meeting. Sorry, you missed all of this.
Seriously, we talked business! We talked about buying a repeater, repairing a repeater, salvaging a repeater and W5NLR handed out paper copies of the ARLinks Repeater system. You can download your own PDF copy HERE.
Our chief engineer, Joel, N5QLC, gave us a report on the repair and antenna replacement at the Benton linked repeater, 146.640. We also discussed plans for getting the Arcom controller repaired at our Malvern repeater site, located at the QTH of K5TEL. Tim and some “Helping Hams” are preparing to move that repeater into nicer quarters–meaning inside his house where it will live in heated and air conditioned comfort.
We voted on a motion that was made and seconded at the last meeting on September 8th; this was to eliminate two board positions when they expire at the end of 2014. That will reduce the total number of board positions from eight to six, thus making for a more efficient organization. The motion passed without opposition.
Mostly, we talked about the election of officers to be held at the next meeting on November 3rd at the same location, Larry’s Pizza. The problem is–there are NO NOMINATIONS at this point and we are less than one month away! PLEASE, step up to the plate and nominate yourself if you have a desire and a passion to lead the CAUHF Group in 2015. All positions for club officers are up for grabs; president, vice-president and secretary-treasurer. Contact any member of the Nominating Committee.
Again, as you can plainly see, no fun was had by anyone–except for the FOOD, FELLOWSHIP, FUTURE PLANNING, SHARING OF KNOWLEDGE, REPEATER TALK, and the drawing for FANTASTIC PRIZES!
